Notes
Daniel came from England to settle in Maryland. He served with the 8th Virginia Regiment. His papers are in the
National Archives in DC. He later moved to Frederick co, MD, where he married Catherine Byre. In 1794 he
moved to Londonderry township, Bedford co, PA. In 1801 he settled on Lexington Road, Girard Erie co, PA.

Notes
Samuel arrived in Green co in 1842 when he purchased land on section 25, where he lived until 1860. A saw mill
was erected on Section 22, Sylvester twp, Green co, WI by Amos Sylvester in 1843. A large business was done, as
a blacksmith shop was later added. Samuel D. Ball purchased the mill in 1865. The farm there consisted of 176
acres. The Nevada Cheese Factory was erected in spring of 1877 across the road from his mill. It ran until 1882,
when he sold the machinary and closed the business. Samuel sold his mill and land (excepting the cheese factory
land) on 7-22-1903 to Adam Schmidt of Monroe, WI. Mr. Schmidt paid $13,720 for the property. The cheese
factory and surrounding land was conveyed to Abraham Speech.
